Alice Liu (Hsin-Jou Liu, 劉心柔) is a Taiwanese composer currently based in North Carolina, where she is pursuing her MM in Composition for Film and Visual Media at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). She previously studied at the Department of Applied Music at Tainan National University of the Arts (TNNUA), focusing on film scoring.

She started composing in middle school, forming a band with a few close friends and writing original songs together. They entered songwriting competitions and won several along the way, including the 2020 Southern Star Original Song Contest, where her song was selected as one of eight finalists and received the competition’s NT$10,000 First Prize! After co-founding a microfilm club with friends in high school, she began scoring short films. That experience introduced her to the magic of film composition and ultimately led her to pursue it professionally.

Her work now spans film music, pop, hip-hop, and choral writing. She has scored numerous student films and collaborated with musicians on arrangements and original productions released on streaming platforms. She has also frequently worked with Taipei Ladies’ Singers (TLS) as an arranger, with her choral works published and performed.

In 2026, Alice won 1st Place in the Film Scoring Competition at the 15th Annual International Horror Hotel Film Festival. In 2024, she was selected as one of 15 students from more than 300 applicants for NYU’s Screen Scoring program, before ultimately choosing UNCSA with the support of a scholarship.

She has also gained professional experience through her internship at SkyCastle Music Production in Taipei (founded by the famous Taiwanese film composer Chris Hou) assisting with orchestral session preparation, transcription, score preparation, and film scoring production. She was credited on Marching Boys (2025), contributing to wind ensemble score preparation and portions of the composition.

Alice is drawn to the incredible way music can carry emotions and enhance stories, and to how a single motif can evoke beautiful memories of a film long after it is over. She has always admired film composers immensely; the magic in their art fuels her commitment to mastering film scoring. She strives to create music that lingers in people’s minds, even after the story ends!

劉心柔（Alice Liu）是一位來自台灣、目前於美國北卡羅來納州的作曲家，現於北卡羅來納藝術學院（University of North Carolina School of the Arts, UNCSA）攻讀配樂碩士。她過去就讀國立臺南藝術大學應用音樂學系，主修電影配樂。

她從國中開始創作音樂，與幾位好友組成樂團，共同創作原創歌曲，並參加各項創作比賽，曾獲得多項獎項。其中，2020年她的作品入選南方新星原創歌曲大賽八首決賽作品之一，並獲得唯一的新台幣10,000元首獎！高中時，她與朋友共同創立微電影社，開始為短片創作配樂。這段經歷讓她接觸到電影作曲的魅力，也最終引領她走上電影配樂的創作之路。

目前她的創作橫跨電影配樂、流行音樂、嘻哈及合唱音樂等領域。她曾為多部學生電影創作配樂，也與不同音樂家合作進行編曲及原創製作，作品已於串流平台發行。此外，她長期與台北愛樂婦女合唱團（Taipei Ladies’ Singers, TLS）合作，擔任編曲，作品曾獲出版並於舞台上演出。

2026年，Alice 獲得第15屆 International Horror Hotel Film Festival 電影配樂競賽第一名。2024年，她從300多名申請者中獲選為紐約大學（NYU）Screen Scoring Program 15名正取學生之一，最終選擇於 UNCSA 深造，並獲得獎學金支持。

在專業經驗方面，她曾於侯志堅老師創立的台北的天空之城音樂工作室擔任實習生，協助管弦樂錄音前期準備、音樂謄譜、樂譜製作及電影配樂製作流程。她亦參與電影 Marching Boys（2025）的製作，負責管樂團樂譜準備，並參與部分音樂創作。

Alice 一直深深著迷於音樂承載情感、深化故事的力量，以及一個簡單的動機，如何在電影結束許久之後，依然能喚起觀眾心中美好的記憶。她始終敬佩電影作曲家所創造的音樂魔法，而這份感動也持續驅使她精進電影配樂的創作。她希望創作出能夠留在人們心中，在故事落幕後依然久久縈繞的音樂！
